The Golden Odyssey offers her guests the opportunity to explore the most beautiful parts of Europe at their own pace. Unlike the numerous hotel barges, the Golden Odyssey does not have a fixed “bus tour” itinerary.  Exploring the forgotten and undiscovered, as well as the better-known parts of Europe , cruises are tailored to the tastes and interests of her guests. Guests can enjoy an individual cruise and return each year for a program of voyages, joining Golden Odyssey as she moves through the more than ten thousand miles of continental waterways.

The European canal system spans the length and breadth of the continent. Some canals date from Roman times. Whilst larger canals are still used for commercial traffic there are miles of waterways, which meander through the countryside at a more leisurely pace. As one of the principal modes of transport in ages past, the canals link the most historic and culturally rich towns,  passing enroute through pastoral landscapes.

The decision to begin our odyssey in Flanders,  was based upon its central location in Europe and its unique scenery and cultural attractions.  France is only a day's sail South, Holland a day North. Belgium is also renowned for its cuisine, which even the French journey to savour!

As a private charter yacht barge is pleased to tailor itineraries to meet the requirements of her clients. The Golden Odyssey offering her guests: a cruise partially in Flanders' Fields and partially in France for a client who wishes to trace WWI history, one in the beautiful Ardennes mountains which we will enter via the recently-completed ship lift at Strepy-Thieu rising over two hundred feet, and one in France cruising from Paris to the Champagne region.
