Aboard Delfin I, you will journey into the heart of the Amazon rainforest, which constitutes over half of the planet's remaining rainforest. The Amazon River is the life force of the forest, rising in the Peruvian Andes and winding its way east over the northern half of South American until reaching the Atlantic Ocean.
ENVIRONMENTAL RESPONSIBILITY
Out of respect to the delicate nature of the rainforest, Delfin I firmly believes in treading lightly in the pristine environment of the Amazon. Its staff acknowledges the importance of maintaining such preservation status and the need for responsible operational standards. Delfin I highly values the concept of providing its guests with a real connection to this unique environment. The Amazon needs no background in regard to why it needs protection; nevertheless, Delfin I implements certain actions in order to achieve two goals in the exploration business: protection of the environment and high customer satisfaction in a new way of traveling, one that will challenge perception and enrich souls.
Reducing the Carbon Footprint
Delfin I uses engines and generators that emit low levels of carbon dioxide, produce less noise, and use fossil fuels in an efficient manner; fossil fuels are purchased from the best suppliers and filtered prior to combustion. In order to reduce greatly organic or inorganic elements that may impact the river environment, an onboard treatment plant treats sewage water before it is discharged back into the river. The staff separate inorganic waste such as glass, metal, and plastic for proper recycling upon cruise completion. Used and burned oils are also delivered to a local company which recycles them as lubrication for other machinery.
All onboard cleaning agents are either biodegradable, or contain environmentally-friendly components; the empty containers are either re-used or otherwise recycled. All bathroom products will also be biodegradable or otherwise contain 100% natural and environmentally-friendly components. All faucet fixtures include water-flow controls to ensure top efficiency in water consumption, and energy efficient lighting systems are used throughout the vessel.
